Things to do

Mountain Biking / Cycling

The region is a magnet for mountain bikers with a large number of tracks. In summer you might wish to take your bike on the chair lift. Bikes can be hired from numerous locations but our next door neighbours run a mountain biking company.

White Water Rafting

The Struma river just beyond Simitli has several white water rafting centres along its banks. The rafts travel for approximately 12 km downstream.

Skiing / Snowboarding

The Bansko area offers excellent ski and snowboard conditions with good infrastructure. Lift passes and equipment hire are substantially less expensive than in the Alps. Our chalets are approximately 12 km from the car park.

Hiking / Climbing

The chalets are surrounded by three mountain ranges (Rila, Pirin & Rhodope) which contain the highest peak in the Balkans, Musala at 2925m. There are well marked trails, numerous mountain huts and lakes. For the less energetic some areas can be reached using the lift systems.

Fishing

There is excellent trout fishing within the Razlog/Bansko municipalities. A weekly area fishing permit costs only £1.60 and can be obtained from the Forestry Commission in Razlog. Barbeque your catch back at Rila Chalets.

Horse Riding

Many villagers in the valley own their own horses for both work and breeding. There are several riding schools nearby. The Rusaliite school about 1 km along a rough road beyond Bachevo (8km) is particularly attractive, containing a small new hotel, an aviary, children’s climbing area and archery.
